infection

your rectitude
stays
comfortably nestled
next to your ego
or the space you fill
with your lack of reasons
i remind myself daily
with all the knowledge
i can lay my hands upon

your splendor
exists
only in your mind
and mine
i wash it out daily with salt water
and a moderate dose of reality

until the day comes
when i exercise you out
with my sly smile
look upon you and laugh
with all the splendor you lost
or all the splendor my life has become
without you in it

emmy - thank you for all your wonderful comments!

this one did strike a cord with a couple of people. It makes me happy to think that my writing evokes any kind of reaction. :)
